About Me...

Ok, you choose... I could do what most folks do on the “About Us” page and just give you some generic, vaguely worded, one-paragraph page that tells you virtually nothing...

Or I could actually tell you something “about” me, since you took the time to visit this page... which do you prefer?

Good choice, you're still with me! :-) Well, let’s see... first off I’m not a “big shot”. But I am a “little shot” who has kept on shooting despite many, many obstacles.

Like many folks out there, I started without any money other than the bare necessities. Actually when I started, I was a broke college student barely out of high school. I discovered a real estate investing book in the public library, by accident actually. The book was incorrectly filed... thank God... under the “business” section.

I started reading that book, and I was hooked. From there, I read ALL the real estate investing books in the library. At the time, I was a sophomore in college. Since I was a born entrepreneur who believed in getting enough information to take action, that was also the first year I bought my first investment property.

It was important to get that first deal under my belt, even though I didn’t make any money on it after the dust settled.

As soon as I could afford it, I started buying real estate investment courses, going to seminars, boot camps, and I even hired a mentor. I wanted to succeed and I knew that I would have to invest in myself, and my investment education, just like I had done to go to college.

Fortunately, you can often earn a lot more money investing in real estate, while paying a lot less for your education, than you can trying to get rich by getting a college degree. I’m not knocking college by any means, in fact I actually wrote a book on study skills for high school and college students, but that’s another story...

I graduated from one of the most rigorous engineering colleges in the country, and proceeded to implement my 5-year plan. That plan was to work for someone else for 5 years, to understand how business operates, and then focus full-time on my real estate business. Fortunately, I was blessed that things worked out exactly that way for me.

Keep in mind that during those five years, I was buying, selling, and renting houses while I was working as a full-time engineer. During this time, I was also a highly rated, highly valued employee. Nevertheless, after 4.5 years, I left engineering to focus full-time on real estate.

So I’ve been buying, selling, and renting houses and doubles (duplexes) part-time or full time since I was 2 years out of high school. I’ve also had the privilege to be a regular speaker at real estate investment clubs and real estate investor associations (REIA groups). I’ve enjoyed the honor of sharing my knowledge through seminars and workshops on real estate investing with hundreds (if not thousands) of people.
